Last summer, when I was pregnant with Buck, I lived in stretchy pencil skirts. They were so nice for pregnancy and accommodated my growing bump perfectly. This summer, now that I have my waistline back, I’m much more interested in a-line skirts, especially if they have an adorable print like this one from eshakti.

And the fact that it has a pretty bow in the front (and belt loops so I can wear it with a regular belt!) makes it even better. Although, I did found out how hard it is to tie bows…clearly I was meant to be a mother to boys.

skirt: c/o eshakti // tee: forever 21 (similar) // necklace: c/o wild about jewelry // shoes: kohls (similar)
I have several other items from eshakti and am very impressed with the quality of their clothing, both fabric and construction, and this particular skirt is no different. They do free custom sizing on your first order, which I think is an awesome option, so you can ensure the piece fits you perfectly, and almost all of their clothing has the option to customize it — add sleeves, pockets, change the length, or change the neckline.
And when you register on their site, you get $25 toward your first order! So go check them out and buy yourself something pretty for spring.

Lots of Bows

  1. Lovely skirt! I actually have 2 eShakti dresses and a skirt – I'm wearing the skirt in my outfit post today, in fact! I love this one you chose…bow print AND a bow belt? Fantastic.

Your second eshakti link is a link to Kohls 🙂

  3. Tying bows IS hard. I've pinned some tutorials but I've never actually looked at them. Also, I'm pretty sure at least fifty percent of Abby's wardrobe right now has bows on it. She'd love your skirt!

  4. You look so pretty!
    I love the skirt 🙂

  9. Uhm, I totally just looked at the eshakti. I'm in trouble. I'm a dress girl and I already found SEVERAL dresses I want. Looks like I will be buying some once the tax refund is here! Looking beautiful as usual. Stay blessed.

This has just totally inspired me to get my sewing machine out. Now if only I could get the hang of the whole thread tension thing, I could have such a cool new wardrobe for the summer..!

    • Check out your manual (or you can probably find it online if you don't have the manual anymore) — that should give you an idea of where your thread tension should be. Also, most machines have the optimal thread tension marked on the tension setting — for example, the four and five on my machine are shaded darker to show that's where it's supposed to be. Hope that helps, and have fun sewing your summer wardrobe!

  17. What a fun outfit 🙂
I too have so much trouble making a nice bow – I found this Modcloth tutorial really helped a lot:

I finally realised I'd been creating the second loop in the wrong direction and now I'm much more successful 🙂

Cute, as always! I'm a somewhat newer follower of yours, but I love all the clothes you wear and refashion.

I hope you don't mind if I ask you your size…specifically your height. You look so petite and adorable.

For the record, I'm about 5 feet and a half an inch, and just under 100 lbs.

You make clothes look so cute, even styles that I normally shy away from because of my height. I think knowing if you're also short would help me get on-board with some of those styles I typically wouldn't try.

    Thanks so much!
