What Colors and Prints To Wear With Red

Trying to figure out colors to wear with red? Today we’re talking all about a classic holiday and winter color, and which colors you can pair with it.

Red is one of my favorite colors to wear, especially in the holidays and winter. But can you wear it beyond holiday outfits – YES! We all know that black, white, and cream go well with red, but can other colors go well with it? Absolutely, and I’ll show you how.

I’ve done a few posts about what to wear with certain colors before, and they’re all linked at the bottom of this post.

What Colors to Wear With Red

RED AND BLACK

We’re starting with something easy…red and black together are perfect for the holidays and any time of year. I went for a pair of coated black jeans and embellished flats for more of a simple holiday look, but you could do regular black jeans or leggings, a black skirt, black shorts with a red tee during the summer…tons of possibilities here! It’s an easy combo.

RED AND NAVY BLUE

Sometimes I think red and blue together will feel too Americana when it’s not the 4th of July, but with navy blue and some rich brown boots, it doesn’t give that vibe at all. Give this one a try — it totally works any time of year!

RED AND LIGHT WASH JEANS

I want to show you how red works with a few different washes of jeans. Here are some light wash jeans, and they are perfect with a bright red sweater! Since light wash jeans often feel more casual, I paired them with casual sneakers. I chose high top converse sneakers for a little more ankle coverage!

RED AND MID RINSE JEANS

These jeans are some of my all time favorites. They’re super comfy and feel like a sweatshirt, and their mid rinse color is perfect with a red sweater. I paired with ankle boots, but you could do sneakers or loafers or chelsea boots.

RED AND DARK WASH JEANS

This is super similar to the navy blue combination, but I wanted to show you how you could wear super dark rinse jeans with a red sweater and it looks super chic and amazing.

RED AND HOT PINK

This is one of my all time favorite combinations…red and hot pink. It’s unexpected and chic and bold, and really fun for any time of year (not just valentine’s day when you might think to pair red and pink).

RED AND CREAM

Obviously this is an easy combination, but I love the texture combo here with the tweed of the skirt and the knit in the sweater. So chic and elevated for winter!

RED AND GRAY

Just like red and black, red and gray totally works! I went for more of a casual feel with dark gray jeans, gray boot socks, and black chelsea boots. This is a great outfit you could easily duplicate with pieces in your closet, then add a red or black or gray coat over the top for winter!

RED AND BURGUNDY

This color combo is so gorgeous and perfect for the fall or the holidays. These rich colors pair beautifully together, and I was tempted to wear a bold red shoe with this outfit, but opted for a neutral nude pump to let the other colors really stand out.

RED AND OLIVE GREEN

Red and green together automatically make us think of Christmas, but when you do olive green, it gives less of those Christmassy vibes and creates a really nice combination! I paired with sneakers for a more casual look, and I think it totally works here!

RED AND RED

I actually love this look so much with the red on red! I wasn’t sure if it would feel like too much for me, but I think it totally works for the holidays. These satin pants from Target are super good quality and make a really fun statement.

RED AND SILVER

This is a perfect cozy glam look for the holidays…red and silver together are chic and festive all at the same time. I paired with a nude pump to let the red and sequins do the talking.

RED AND WHITE

Can you wear red and white without it looking like the 4th of July? YES. I paired with my favorite wide leg white jeans and some neutral ankle boots for a chic colder weather look. You could add a brown or gray or black or red dress coat for a warmer winter look here!

RED AND RUST

I recently got these rust colored pants and I’m obsessed with them. They’re a deep, dark orange color, and since red and orange are next to each other on the color wheel, this is an combination that definitely works. But since I don’t want to wear orange pants, this is a really good alternative that work well with red but isn’t so brazenly orange.

The point of these posts is to help you see that you can wear basically anything with any color, but hopefully it gives you some ideas of pieces to pair in your closet!
